Chapter 1

In my reading of chapter one of New Perspectives of the Internet 10th edition, I found chapter one to be one of the most informative readings I had analyzed. The first chapter explained the basics of the internet very from explaining the basic controls in the navigation bar to explaining the usefulness of private browsing. My favorite section of chapter one would be the private browsing, and the cookies section. Although I did have a good experience in the first chapter some parts did not explain the material well. Overall, the first chapter or module began the book satisfactorily with some minor imperfections. In the private browsing section, the book helps explain on how private browsing works, the benefits, and why it is necessary. In my personal experience I use private browsing to view the vital information in my bank account, and the bills that I need to pay or view. The browser provides extra security to ensure that I do not need to worry about my personal information being exposed to whomever may access it. On the other hand, being able to manage cookies and deleting them whenever they inconvenience you is a very handy feature. One of my complaints is the book’s flaw of not going into detail in the section regarding the uses of extensions. I personally don’t use extensions in my version of google chrome due to the fact that it is simply not needed in my day-to-day use. In conclusion chapter one of New Perspectives of the Internet 10th edition was a very informative reading in my opinion. The highlights of the chapter included topics such as the uses of private browsing, and the functionality of cookies and how they affect surfing the web. Other topics such as extensions needed a bit more work and explanation on how they can make the users life easier. All in all I would recommend this chapter to whomever stumbles across this book.
